We loved this cosy speakeasy - it's totally worth seeking out. It is a gin lover's delight! Ian the owner knows everything there is to know about gin and is happy to share his knowledge. If you're feeling peckish, don't miss his mum's sausage rolls - they're absolutely delicious. This was one of the highlights of our Hobart visit. Will definitely be returning next time we're in town. What a gem!

Great find in downtown Hobart for tasting regional whiskys or enjoying well crafted cocktails, but the star of the show is the mixologist Lucas! Wow, what an asset to this place: so personable, knowledgeable, and welcoming. He should definitely be hired away by the Tasmania Distillers Association as their brand ambassador. Please stop by for a few sips. Terrible picture of Lucas, apologies

Swanky bar to chill and relax at when you want some nice cocktails. Beautiful range of Tasmanian spirits and bartenders create delicious cocktails. Highly recommend if you are interested in purchasing Tasmanian spirits but want to try them first

Wonderful welcoming atmosphere. Felt like we were part of the play...knowledge and advice on whiskey options was considered and well-informed. Cocktails were all amazing.

We had a lovely pre-dinner cocktail at this fabulous bar. The bar staff know exactly what they’re doing and can make anything you like (without having to reference online! They just know!). Highly recommend.

Amazing place with no cocktail list but best cocktail maker in Hobart. Just tell Ian what you feel like and he will do something with some amazing ingredients from saffron gin to pavlova vodka to the all Aussie Nedgroni. And when you get peckish he will serve up one of his Mum's fantastic pies or some of her sausage rolls. A hidden treasure which I am sure won't remain hidden for long

Highly recommend you rely on the bartender’s knowledge. From whiskeys to cocktails - Grace (bartender) looked after us with great aplomb and care. Would 100% ask to make up a cocktail (just don’t be difficult and give no starting point, it’s a two way street)

There are bars with a great back bar or cocktail list, but the vibe is “drink, then leave”. Then there are bars with personality, the sort of place you want to stay for one more - thanks to the bartenders. Gold Bar is the latter. Madelyn brings huge personality to the place, coupled with a great knowledge of Tassie spirits. Definitely a must visit for whisky or cocktail lovers.

15/10 Vibes with an incredible inside/outside set up. Unbelievable selection of Gins & Whiskeys and Grace our bartender was first class. So friendly, knowledgeable, and made us our first gin sours which we are now addicted to. Can’t forget to get a photo in the bathtub as well 🙌

Absolutely fantastic bar with an amazing choice of local spirits. My negronis were off-charts good. Super friendly staff and warm locals up for a chat. I’m sad to see it close its current location but am looking forward to visiting again somewhere new when I’m next in Hobart.
